Benny Green

Fans of classic modern jazz piano know Benny Green as one of the very best.  He is equally at home playing beautiful interpretations of standard ballads as he is with hard bop classics.  In his early career, Benny played for such notable artists as Betty Carter, Art Blakey, and Freddie Hubbard.
In 1993 Oscar Peterson chose Benny as the first recipient of the Glen Gould International Protégé Prize in Music.  Also in 1993, Green replaced Gene Harris in Ray Brown’s Trio, working with the veteran bass player until 1997.  From then on, Benny resumed his freelance career, led his own trios, did solo piano performances, and composed much new music.

This is an exceptional trio featuring David Wong and Rodney Green (no relation) and you’ll soon know why Benny is considered  “A pianist’s pianist!”
