Benny Green defies labels. He swings soulfully like Gene Harris, and he swings bop like Bud Powell. Mainly, Benny has earned recognition as one of the jazz piano elite by virtue of his undeniable passion and chops.

The Napa Valley Jazz Society has the honor of presenting Benny Green to kick off our 2023 season, especially since he was the first jazz artist presented under our banner back in 2005. Over a career of 40+ years, he has collaborated with the likes of Betty Carter, Art Blakey, Ray Brown, Oscar Peterson, Freddy Hubbard, and Christian McBride. For his fourth appearance with NVJS, Benny will present a program of solo piano jazz that will include standards, originals and selections from his upcoming solo album.
