The coronavirus pandemic is having a devastating and immediate effect on the income of jazz artists.  While the new stimulus package is reported to include unemploy- ment compensation for gig workers, we don’t know how much and how soon it will be available.  Our biggest concern is keeping these artists in their homes.

The Napa Valley Jazz Society has established a fund for Jazz Artist Relief (JAR).  Our focus will be on jazz artists known to NVJS and its collaborating societies who reside in the counties of Napa, Sonoma, Marin, Solano, Contra Costa, and Mendocino.  Grants will range from $100 to $500 per month and will be considered for possible renewal as more is known.

We are coordinating our efforts with other jazz organizations in Northern California, as they launch similar programs.  Since many jazz artists who perform for us live outside of our target territory, we will consider directing funds to supplement grants made by these other funds to those artists.

We invite our Members and friends to consider generous contributions to this worthy cause.   A separate bank account has been set up for the JAR Fund under our 501c3 designation.  An initial contribution to the Fund of $5,000 will be made by NVJS.  A Subscription Support Form is attached for those who wish to join us in contributing to the JAR Fund.  Please download this Support Form,  complete and return to info@nullnvjs.org  or mail to:  NVJS, P.O. Box 6080, Napa, CA 94581.

Thank you for helping us keep jazz alive.
